‘Mourn The Living’ is the delicate, emotional new track from Sarah Barrios. Simple piano chords make up the accompaniment of the track’s first half, leaving Barrios’ acrobatic voice to take centre stage. She presents her unique tone with straight-to-the-point lyrics (‘Let’s just pretend I didn’t fuck you over’) before moving between moments of artistic autotune, gravelly whispers, and grand falsetto. Of the lyrics, she states: “Whether you break up with someone or fall out with a friend, I think it’s natural to mourn the loss of someone’s presence in your life, but there comes a point where you have to accept that, people move on and continue living and growing, and therefore you should too”. Considering this is one of Barrios’ first tracks, there must be big things on the horizon. - Dan Peeke
